Direct services are services carried out by Child Care Aware® of Kansas.
We employ staff, perform the day-to-day activities, and complete efforts for continuation and expansion of these projects.
T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood® KANSAS
T.E.A.C.H. (Teacher Education and Compensation Helps) is a scholarship and compensation opportunity for center-based and family child care home providers which links education, compensation and commitment to providing the quality of early childhood care and education programs for young children. Scholarships are available for those in the early education field that would like to obtain an associate degree from a Kansas college.
Child Care WAGE$ KANSAS
WAGE$ is an education-based salary supplement program for early educators working with children in licensed child care programs in eligible counties. The program is designed to provide young children more stable relationships with better educated teachers by rewarding teacher education and continuity of care.
Building Excellent Leaders Influencing Early Foundations
Early Childhood Leadership Institute (B.E.L.I.E.F.)
B.E.L.I.E.F. is designed for center directors and family child care professionals who are ready for a new learning challenge. The Institute is a 10-month leadership training program that focuses on change and the early childhood leader's role. It is a model for improving the quality of early childhood programs. B.E.L.I.E.F. supports participants in implementing quality improvements to their early childhood programs.
Child Care Aware Training Academy™
Child Care Aware Training Academy™ is an online training program. Courses are designed for busy early childhood professionals to complete annual training requirements for Licensure, to complete the training requirement of the Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or training hours needed for the CDA credential renewal. Child Care Aware Training Academy™ offers a pre-service learning experience for new child care providers.
Continuing Education Units (CEUs) Approval
CEUs represent a system for setting standards for quality learning activities that are designed for individuals in the early care and education field. The learning activities must meet learning outcomes as stated in the Core Competencies for Early Care and Education Professionals in Kansas. Child Care Aware® of Kansas provides consistent, timely approval of these learning activities.
Early Childhood Curricula
Child Care Aware® of Kansas has developed curricula for statewide distribution among early education professionals including:
- Basic Knowledge Curriculum: (created in partnership with the MIssouri and Illinois Child Care Resource and Referral State Networks) is designed to give child care providers and early learning staff foundational knowledge to be successful when caring for children.
- Mission Possible: is designed to assess all aspects of the child care environment and provide knowledge about caring for school aged children.
- All for One and One for All in the Care for Young Children with Disabilities and Chronic Conditions: is designed to give child care providers and early learning staff concepts and skills needed to care for children with disabilities.
