Supported Services

Supported services are services offered primarily by your local CCR&R. Child Care Aware® of Kansas: employs staff to monitor the activities carried out by CCR&Rs for projects listed below; provides administrative support; supplies funding; and leads efforts for continuation and expansion.

Kansas Quality Rating and Improvement System (KQRIS)

KQRIS is a tiered quality rating and improvement system for licensed child care programs. Participating programs receive an annual assessment of quality; assessment is followed by on-site coaching (delivered by the CCR&R) and grant opportunities for the program, college scholarships (T.E.A.C.H.) and salary supplements for staff (WAGE$). Programs earn points in 5 different research based quality rating components. Quality Rating Components include: Learning Environment, Family Partnerships, Training & Education, Ratios & Group Size and National Accreditation. Points are tallied and programs are assigned a Star Rating ranging from 1 - 5 stars.

Infant/Toddler Project

The Infant/Toddler Project is made up of four main initiatives (Infant/Toddler Project, Strengthening Families, Kansas Early Learning Collaborative Infant/Toddler Recruitment Project & American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA) Infant/Toddler Recruitment Project) that support child care providers throughout the state of Kansas. Three main goals of the Infant/Toddler Project:

Healthy Kansas Kids

Healthy Kansas Kids is a statewide comprehensive health and wellness project that engages child care programs, children, families and communities in making positive lifestyle changes to improve their levels of daily physical activity and healthy eating habits.
